Hearing accessibility for assisted living
Help residents hear the person—and notice the event.
Start with the need—not the device.
Every resident experiences hearing loss differently. Some need help understanding the person speaking. Others may not reliably notice a visitor, phone call, call button, or emergency signal. Many need support with both.
Bellman helps assisted living teams identify where the hearing gap occurs and choose a simple solution for that situation.
Personal Amplifiers
A personal amplifier picks up speech, makes it clearer, and sends it directly to headphones, earbuds, or a compatible neck loop.
It provides focused listening support without requiring staff, family members, or other residents to continually repeat themselves or speak louder.
Bellman personal amplifiers feature simple controls, tactile buttons, clear indicators, rechargeable batteries, and portable designs. They can be kept ready for resident rooms, front desks, care teams, activity spaces, or appointments.
Use an amplifier to help a resident:
• Follow one-to-one conversations with staff or family
• Participate in meals, activities, appointments, and group discussions
• Focus on one speaker when background noise makes listening difficult
• Hear phone conversations and other supported audio
• Get quick support when hearing aids are unavailable or not enough for the moment
Alerting Systems
An alerting system detects an important event and sends a wireless signal to a receiver.
Depending on the selected setup, the resident can be notified through loud sound, flashing light, vibration, clear event icons, or an on-wrist alert.
A resident may benefit from a bright visual alert in one setting, a portable or wearable vibration in another, and a bedside alert during sleeping hours.
Use an alerting system to help a resident notice:
• A visitor or activity at the door
• Landline calls or supported mobile phone activity
• A call button or another supported attention signal
• Smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide events
• Important activity while awake, resting, or sleeping
Step 1:
Identify the hearing need
Start with the moment where the resident needs help: understanding speech, noticing an event, or both.
Step 2:
Choose the solution
Use a personal amplifier to make conversations clearer or an alerting system to make important events easier to notice.
Step 3:
Match the setup to the resident
Consider the environment and whether sound, flashing light, vibration, headphones, earbuds, a neck loop, or an on-wrist notification will work best.
